Made in Florence, Italy! The Lily, in French known as the" fleur-de-lis", has been the recognized official symbol of Florence for over 1,000 years. The origin of the lily symbol, known in Italian as the "Giglio di Firenze", can be traced back to the ruling class of the Roman Empire. While It is certainly possible that the Florentine version was inspired by the original Roman symbol, there are several other legends and rumors surrounding its origin. One thing is certain though. It isn't a Lily at all, but rather a idealized depiction of the local Florentine variety of Iris.

Fine silver-plated solid brass. Length 30mm. May be used as a pendant or large focal charm.
